🦀 Activity 1: The Coastal Ecosystem

වෙරළබඩ පරිසර පද්ධතිය (Coastal Ecosystem & Pollution)

We are taking a nature walk on the beach! We will observe the coastal ecosystem, identify living things (crabs, plants, birds) and non-living things (sand, shells, water). We will also investigate beach pollution and discuss how to protect this beautiful resource.

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Collecting interesting shells and rocks (samples). Pointing out living vs non-living things. Naturalist

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Using magnifying glasses to look closely at sand and small creatures. Picking up plastic pollution and discussing why it's bad for the ocean.

🧑 Ages 10-15 (Innovators):

Focus: Analyzing the coastal resources. How do flora and fauna adapt to high salt environments and constant tides? Existential

🔍 Engagement Tracker Naturalist Interpersonal

Observation skills during the beach walk:

💧 Activity 2: Water, Salt & Solar Fire

ජලය, ලුණු සහ සූර්ය ශක්තිය (Water Table, Salterns & Solar Lenses)

We are going to dig a deep hole in the sand to find the "Water Table" (sea level)! We will collect salt water, learn how a saltern works by evaporating it to purify the salt, and finally, use the sun and a magnifying glass to safely ignite a matchstick!

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Digging the hole! Being amazed when water appears at the bottom. Watching the matchstick smoke. Bodily-Kinesthetic

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Learning that seawater contains invisible salt that appears when water evaporates. Helping focus the sunlight into a tiny dot.

🧑 Ages 10-15 (Innovators):

Focus: The physics of convex lenses concentrating light waves into thermal energy. The chemistry of water purification and desalination. Logical-Math

🔍 Engagement Tracker Logical-Math Bodily-Kinesthetic

Understanding of evaporation (Salterns):

Excitement during the Solar Fire experiment:

♻️ Activity 3: Harnessing Nature's Power

පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්තිය (Solar, Wind & Tidal Energy)

The beach has sun, wind, and waves! We will connect mini solar panels to generate electricity. We will also construct simple pinwheels and observe the waves to discuss how wind turbines and tidal power generators create clean energy.

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Holding a pinwheel in the wind and watching it spin. Learning that the wind is invisible but powerful!

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Angling the solar panel directly at the sun to make an LED brighter. Understanding that nature gives us free energy.

🧑 Ages 10-15 (Innovators):

Focus: Discussing the mechanics of turbines. How kinetic energy (wind/tides) and photon energy (solar) convert to electrical current. Logical-Math

🔍 Engagement Tracker Logical-Math Existential

Grasp of Renewable vs Non-Renewable energy:

🤽‍♂️ Activity 4: Team Games & Hotel Fun

කණ්ඩායම් ක්‍රීඩා සහ විනෝදය (Team Games, Pool & Lunch)

STEAM is also about teamwork! We will play group beach games, like racing to fill a bottle using only water carried in our cupped hands. Afterwards, we will enjoy the hotel swimming pool and sit down together for a wonderful team lunch.

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Splashing in the shallow pool. Following game rules and learning to eat politely with friends. Interpersonal

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Communicating with the team during the water-fill relay race. Learning good sportsmanship (winning and losing gracefully).

🧑 Ages 10-15 (Innovators):

Focus: Leadership. Strategizing the most efficient way to carry water in the relay. Looking out for younger kids in the pool.

🔍 Engagement Tracker Interpersonal Bodily-Kinesthetic

Teamwork and Sportsmanship during games:

Socializing during lunch and pool time:

🌌 Evening Session: Sky & Stars 🌌

🎭 Activity 5: Talent Show & Kites

කුසලතා දැක්වීම සහ සරුංගල් යැවීම (Talent Show & Kite Flying)

As the evening cools down, the wind picks up! We will fly kites together. Then, everyone gets a chance to stand in front of the group and show off a talent—singing, dancing, a magic trick, or telling a joke!

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Overcoming stage fright to sing a nursery rhyme. Holding the kite string and feeling the wind pull. Intrapersonal

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Aerodynamics of kite flying. Supporting their friends during the talent show by clapping loudly.

🧑 Ages 10-15 (Innovators):

Focus: Confidence in public speaking/performing. Adjusting the kite bridle for better flight stability. Spatial

🔍 Engagement Tracker Interpersonal Musical

Confidence during the Talent Show:

🔭 Activity 6: Astrophysics & The Night Sky

තාරකා විද්‍යාව (Astrophysics, Telescope & Puzzles)

The sun has set! It's time for Astrophysics. We will complete a massive Solar System puzzle to understand the planets. Then, we will look through a Telescope to observe the moon, planets, and map out constellations in the dark sky.

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Finding the pieces for the big Sun in the puzzle. Looking through the telescope and saying "Wow!" Spatial

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Memorizing the order of the planets. Tracing lines between stars in the sky to find shapes (Constellations).

🧑 Ages 10-15 (Innovators):

Focus: Optics of the telescope (refraction/reflection). Discussing light years, galaxies, and our place in the universe. Existential

🔍 Engagement Tracker Existential Spatial

Interest in Space and the Universe:

🎇 Activity 7: Light & Flight (The Grand Finale)

ආලෝක සිතුවම් සහ බැලූන් (Light Painting & Night Balloons)

For our magical finale, we will launch hot air paper balloons (or LED-installed hydrogen balloons) into the night sky! Finally, we will use glow sticks and cameras with long exposure to draw "Light Paintings" in the dark air.

👶 Ages 3-5 (Explorers):

Focus: Waving glow sticks in circles. Watching the glowing balloons float up to the stars safely.

🧒 Ages 6-9 (Creators):

Focus: Trying to write their name backward in the air so the camera catches it correctly! Spatial
